Many people struggle with this question when it comes to all sorts of repair and maintenance decisions around the home.  Do I just do it myself or, hire out?

Depending on what you are looking at doing, it can be an easy choice to make, after you weigh out the pros and cons of each option!  Today, we are looking at some personal characteristics that should help make this decision clear as day, simply taking a look at which category you might fit into with these two options!  The do-it-yourself kind of person, or, the person who prefers to hire a professional are two very different people, and sometimes when a hire out disguises himself as a do-it-yourself-er, bad things can happen!

This is an important topic since virtually everything in our home and yard will need maintenance from time to time.  So, take a read below to see which more represents you!

The do it “yourself-er”:

Someone who can take on a task with little to no follow-up needed to stay on track to completing the project.  ie. Someone who will get the job done, not make excuses.

Someone who is good at planning and budgeting, organizing, drafting, visualization, and more.  Basically, a wizard of sorts.

Someone who can do the job right, and not get upset with feedback from others in the home.  Someone who has more than a general understanding of what to do.

Someone who can create and keep a timeline.

The do-it-yourself kind of person, or, the person who prefers to hire a professional are two very different people

The “hire out” kind:

Know the value of their time, and don’t want it ill-spent if they don’t have the skill, and could be making more money spending their time elsewhere.

Know they don’t have the skill to do the job and don’t feel like learning.

Know they will end up fighting with their spouse for the entirety of the project and want to avoid that.

Know that they are too busy to get serious about taking on new projects.

Know that they want to spend their downtime, as just that, downtime.

Dont have the physical ability to do the job.
