Got Ants? Top tips to get rid of them
As ant season is upon us, we got to work to complete a list of things you can do to deter them from coming into your home. There are some simple, cost-effective DIY solutions that can make your ant problem history before you know it.
The first tip would be to go to a dollar store and buy a spray bottle and fill it with ACV (apple cider vinegar) & water. Ants hate the smell of white vinegar, and ACV is even more potent. Research shows that ants can smell vinegar even after it’s dry, so this method should help you with your issue. Spray the affected area multiple times per week to keep it potent. This is an all-natural (safe for both kids and pets) solution.
Ant bait traps work well if you are not concerned about kids or pets being able to access them. The ants will access the poison bait through the trap, and take the poison back to the queen and colony.
Essential oils can also deter ants from coming back, they are not fond of both lavender oil and peppermint oil. Leaving little drops at access points can do the trick! Be aware that these oils are also not safe for kids and pets.

Check to make sure your home is properly sealed off, older homes may not be as easy to keep them out, but you can usually see an annual pattern of access points with ants, so that should help to determine where the problem areas are, and what can be done about it.
If none of the above is working for you, you might want to call on a pest control service. Keep in mind they will be spraying chemicals that should do the trick to kill them all in one go, but you will need to keep the area clear from kids and pets for a few days after, or as per their recommendations.
Try the ACV first! It’s the safest, natural solution available at the lowest cost too!
